Inspectorate and Financial Intelligence Agency strengthen anti-money laundering cooperation

TIRANA, August 21 – The General Inspectorate and the Financial Intelligence Agency have signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation against money laundering and terrorist financing.

General Inspector Dashnor Sula and Financial Intelligence Agency Director Ervin Koci signed the agreement. It aims to improve the detection and reporting of suspected illegal financial activity during inspections.

Under the agreement, the General Inspectorate will immediately report suspicious findings to the Financial Intelligence Agency. It will also provide requested information within 10 working days, or within 3 days in urgent cases.

Meanwhile, the Financial Intelligence Agency will support inspectors with guidance, risk indicators and training. Its experts will also participate in training activities.

The two institutions said the agreement will strengthen information sharing and professional capacity and improve Albania’s efforts against money laundering and terrorist financing.
