Karakaçi: A budget of 35.15 billion lekë has been earmarked for road infrastructure in 2027 to finance key major projects

TIRANA, November 6 /ATA/ – The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy will allocate 35.15 billion lekë for development of road infrastructure in 2027, focusing on major projects and improvement of infrastructural connectivity within the country.

In a video message, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Enea Karakaçi stated that, “This is the money allocated by the budget to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy for road development.”

According to the minister, “The state budget will fully finance Tirana–Durrës motorway and Tirana–Ndroq–Plepa road, paving the way for faster construction and early completion.”

“Meanwhile, another significant undertaking, the Elbasan bypass, is now shifting to a new financing scheme via the state budget, bringing a fresh approach to ensure the continuity and successful delivery of this project.” said Karakaçi.

The minister also spoke about other infrastructure projects set to receive financial support during 2027, highlighting the importance of Corridor VIII and the Blue Corridor.

“The Blue Corridor is taking shape through concession projects—specifically Kashar–Rrogozhina section, with construction set to begin by the end of this year, as well as Lekaj–Fier and Milot–Balldren sections, for which we are nearing the signing of contracts; this will pave the way for finalizing the implementation designs and commencing construction,” he stated.

Karakaçi noted that the 2027 budget includes new projects, such as the northern entrance to Tirana (bypassing Kamëz), Berat–Skrapar road and the northeastern entrance to Tirana, which will connect the capital to Arbër Road.

“Meanwhile, the Albanian Road Authority is wrapping up and pushing forward with designs for new road projects. Financing options are currently being explored for three upcoming routes: Koplik–Boga–Theth, Vjosa Road and Rrëshen–Mirdita connection,” the minister stated.

According to him, the objective is to build a modern, safer and more sustainable road infrastructure that improves connectivity between cities and regions, while also strengthening Albania’s integration into European transport networks. “This is a budget that supports not only the investments for 2027, but also our long-term vision and strategy for the development of road infrastructure in Albania,” concluded Karakaçi. /a.f/r.e/p.s./
