The Government of Kosovo has approved the review of a draft decision to deploy the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) on an international stabilization mission in Gaza. The decision to send troops was approved unanimously, with no votes against and no abstentions.
The approval paves the way for the decision to be forwarded to the Assembly of Kosovo for consideration. Under the applicable legislation, after the executive’s decision, the matter is passed to lawmakers for review and voting, and ultimately requires the approval of the country’s president.
Kosovo’s Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, provided details during the government meeting on the reasons and legal basis for this initiative. He emphasized that the final decision rests with the Assembly of Kosovo.
“The Ministry of Defense, based on strategic objectives and planning for cooperation with allied states, the invitation received from the United States Central Command on December 10, 2025, which refers to UN Security Council Resolution 2803, the political will expressed in the Peace Board, as well as the laws governing the deployment of the KSF abroad, has initiated procedures to request that the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo make a decision on sending the KSF abroad,” Maqedonci said.
He added that the participation of the KSF in this mission would take place under a unified international command. According to him, the goal is to support the implementation of a comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza.
Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, also stated during the government meeting that his country is open to participating in international missions in Gaza.
