Kosovo Police display seized weapons, Sveçla: Serbia wants the North to remain a crime zone

Kosovo’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the Kosovo Police, has displayed in Mitrovica a large quantity of weapons seized during several operations carried out in Serb-majority villages in northern Kosovo.

Addressing the media, Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla said the weapons arsenal was found near the village of Kalludër e Vogël, where, according to him, the first mass grave was also discovered.

“Serbia has invested in ensuring that northern Kosovo never becomes stable and remains a crime zone resistant to Kosovo’s institutions. The silence of Serbia and its extended arm in Kosovo, the Serbian List, following the discovery of the mass graves is concerning. In fact, this silence amounts to open support for the planners, organizers and perpetrators of these plans,” Sveçla said.

The Interior Minister stressed that the discovery of the arsenal and the arrests carried out demonstrate that the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo will act against any threat to the country’s security and constitutional order.

Meanwhile, Kosovo Police Director Gazmend Hoxha released details about the weapons and other items seized during the operations.

According to Hoxha, 72 weapons were confiscated, including 11 AK-47 rifles, along with 4,831 rounds of various types of ammunition. Police also seized magazines, hand grenades, military equipment, and uniforms belonging to the Serbian Army and Police.

During the operations, authorities also confiscated €96,100 and 5,000 Swiss francs.
