Albanian Minister of Interior Besfort Lamallari is on an official visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. There, he met with his counterpart, Minister of Justice and Security David van Weel, in The Hague.
First, the two ministers focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in security. They also discussed law enforcement and the fight against organized crime.
In addition, Lamallari announced that both sides reviewed a draft cooperation agreement between the two governments. The Ministry of Interior has already shared the proposal with Dutch authorities. This agreement aims to build a stronger institutional and operational framework between the two countries.
Furthermore, Lamallari emphasized Albania’s determination to intensify efforts against organized crime. He highlighted concrete results, including the establishment of the Asset Recovery Office within the State Police.
At the same time, he pointed to the effective management of seized and confiscated assets by the national agency responsible for asset administration. As a result, Albania is strengthening its financial investigation mechanisms and improving the capacity of law enforcement institutions.
Moreover, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepen information exchange and operational police cooperation.
Lamallari also expressed gratitude for the Netherlands’ continued support in Albania’s reform processes. He stressed that this support is important for Albania’s path toward European Union membership.
