Ogerta Manastirliu said Tirana has been the driving force behind Albania’s progress toward the European Union, as the Socialist Party celebrated the 35th anniversary of its founding.
Speaking at an event attended by party founders, members, supporters and leaders, Manastirliu praised the contribution of those who helped build and strengthen the Socialist Party over the past three and a half decades.
She described the party’s history as both a political and human journey, marked by achievements as well as challenges. According to Manastirliu, the party’s founders chose “the right side of history” from the beginning and helped establish the Socialist Party as Albania’s leading progressive political force.
Furthermore, she expressed gratitude to party members and founders for preserving the values of a European Albania throughout the past 35 years. She said citizens have repeatedly placed their trust in the Socialist Party to advance the country’s European aspirations.
In addition, Manastirliu highlighted the special role of the Tirana branch of the party, describing it as the locomotive of Socialist Party victories over the years. She emphasized that Tirana’s energy, organization and political engagement have made it the engine of Albania’s path toward EU membership.
Finally, she noted that during its 35-year history, the Socialist Party has contributed to some of the country’s most important milestones, including democratic reforms, state-building efforts and Albania’s economic and social development on its European integration path.
