Nufi: NATO must strengthen cooperation to counter hybrid threats and disinformation

TIRANA, Nov 4 /ATA/ Albanian Defence Minister Ermal Nufi has called for stronger cooperation among NATO member states to tackle hybrid threats, disinformation and malicious activities in the digital sphere.

Speaking to POLITICO Europe, Nufi highlighted that such threats are designed to erode public trust, deepen divisions and undermine the resilience of democratic societies.

The minister also stressed the need for a more proactive NATO, equipped with coordinated mechanisms, specialised expertise and response teams to support member states.

According to the Ministry of Defence, for Albania, security extends beyond territorial defence to include the protection of institutions, citizens and the country’s information space.

“Faced with emerging challenges, our country remains committed to a stronger, better-prepared and more united Alliance, in which the security of each member state is an integral part of our collective security,” the Ministry of Defence stressed.
