Albania is continuing its efforts to strengthen transparency and fight corruption in line with European standards.
State Minister for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption Adea Pirdeni said that the European Union’s Anti-Corruption Directive provides an important roadmap for advancing reforms in the country.
Speaking about discussions held under the EU4GG project, Pirdeni highlighted cooperation between Albanian institutions, European partners, and the European Union Delegation in Albania.
According to her, participants examined how the directive can support reforms in the rule of law, corruption prevention, and alignment with EU standards.
Furthermore, local and international experts shared best practices for identifying corruption risks in vulnerable sectors and strengthening preventive measures.
In addition, the discussions focused on improving reporting mechanisms and increasing institutional accountability.
Pirdeni also stressed the importance of protecting whistleblowers in full accordance with European standards.
As a result, Albania aims to strengthen transparency, reinforce institutional integrity, and build greater public trust.
Ultimately, the government views the EU Anti-Corruption Directive as an important tool for supporting the country’s reform agenda and European integration process.
