President Begaj Welcomes AADF Chief Granoff and Discusses “Toka” Initiative

President of the Republic Bajram Begaj met with Michael Granoff, Chairman of the Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF), along with its executive directors.

The discussion focused on the foundation’s latest projects. These projects aim to develop agriculture, tourism, education in artificial intelligence, and stronger links between diaspora researchers and Albanian institutions.

Begaj praised the cooperation between AADF, diaspora academics, and higher education institutions in Albania. He also highlighted the “READ Fellowship” program and projects that support cultural heritage and economic development.

The President valued AADF’s long-term contribution. He said the foundation has delivered concrete results across multiple sectors with 37 active projects in Albania.

He also welcomed the “Toka” initiative. The project aims to develop Albania’s agricultural sector according to EU and US standards.

Begaj stressed the need to improve productivity, quality standards, and food safety in agriculture. He said the project can support rural development and increase income opportunities.

In addition, the President thanked AADF for its role in UNESCO recognition of Albanian heritage elements such as “Xhubleta” and “Lahuta.”

He also praised ongoing efforts to include other cultural elements in UNESCO lists, including “Dollia,” “Moti i Madh,” “Plisi,” and the Gjirokastër Folk Festival.

Finally, Begaj said AADF projects are visible, valuable, and widely recognized. He added that they should serve as models for future development in Albania.
