Protesters gather outside PM’s office; several detained for obstructing police

TIRANA, November 4 /ATSH/ – A group of young people and citizens gathered again this afternoon in front of the Prime Minister’s Office on “Martyrs of Nation” boulevard, continuing the protests seen over the last few days.

Tensions flared in front of the Prime Minister’s Office when police detained two protesters, Edison Lika and Dritan Goxhja, for refusing a fine. After the crowd tried to stop the police van, officers deployed tear gas to scatter the demonstrators.

Today’s gathering followed an earlier protest, where a group of students marched from the Polytechnic University to the Faculty of Economics and the Ministry of Education. After demonstrating there for several hours, they moved on to the Prime Minister’s Office.
