Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced that the Ministry of Public Administration will be established next week, a new institution which, according to him, will play an important role in modernising the state administration and advancing Albania’s European integration process.
During his speech, the Prime Minister argued that public administration has become one of the main priorities on the government’s agenda, describing it as an essential element in the further development of Albania as a European state.
“Next week, we will establish the Ministry of Public Administration, precisely because public administration has now become a central issue in the government’s work, but also a central issue in Albania’s continued development as a European state,” Rama said.
According to the Prime Minister, the creation of this institution aims to expand the scope of responsibilities and objectives for improving the functioning of public administration, following the practices of other European countries.
“There is a need, through the Ministry of Public Administration, a model that exists in many other European countries, to expand the range of responsibilities, the scope of work and, of course, our ambitions to further strengthen the European state of the Albanian people,” the Prime Minister stated.
Regarding the leadership of the new ministry, Rama indicated that Adea Pirdeni, currently Minister of State for Public Administration, is expected to take on the role. He stressed that responsibility for leading the institution should be entrusted to the structure currently overseeing this area.
“In my view, there is no question that the Ministry of Public Administration can only be led by the current Minister of State for Public Administration,” Rama said.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister thanked representatives of the public administration for their commitment, while the establishment of the new ministry is expected to be officially confirmed next week.
