Prime Minister Edi Rama said Durrës is moving toward a modern transformation of its coastline.
Speaking at the Socialist Party’s 35th anniversary event in Durrës, Rama highlighted ongoing projects at Durrës Beach. He said the area has changed from a coastline once affected by sewage pollution into a growing urban and tourist destination.
Rama said around 80 percent of the beach expansion project is complete. He added that the second phase will extend the shoreline by another 100 meters.
He also said the government is planning a full regeneration of the coastal area with support from an international architecture studio. The project includes reforestation and aims to create a modern and environmentally sustainable public space.
Rama said development in Durrës and across Albania has continued without interruption. He added that the country has learned from past mistakes and kept moving forward.
He also said Albania is now closer to European Union membership and stressed that reforms and development projects remain essential for the country’s future.
