Rama From Korça: The Socialist Party Will Achieve an Extraordinary Victory in the Next Elections

Prime Minister Edi Rama continued the 35th anniversary tour of the Socialist Party this Thursday, stopping in Korça, where he held a meeting with supporters and members of the Socialist Party in the city.

During his speech, Rama predicted that the Socialist Party would achieve what he described as an extraordinary victory in next year’s local elections.

“If the rain started while listening to what Albania once was, let it continue as the blessing we will have, and let it fall upon this 35th anniversary celebration of the Socialist Party here in Korça, announcing an extraordinary victory, like the one we will achieve together in next year’s elections.”

Looking back, he referred to the elections of May 26, 1996, claiming that those elections were stolen by the Democratic Party, which was in power at the time. He said that during that period the opposition was suppressed and subjected to violence, while according to him there was only one opposition media outlet.

Rama emphasized that the Socialist Party is the political force that, throughout the past 35 years, has maintained a proper relationship both with the national interest, the past, and the wider world.

“It is our pride that, after a long period of difficulties and denigration, we have restored dignity to every Albanian wherever they are in the world and given Albania a different reputation from the one it had not many years ago,” Rama said.

He added that the country is now in a new phase, where according to him the stage of “opening negotiation chapters” has ended and the phase of “closing chapters” has now begun.

“We say what we do, and we do what we say,” the prime minister stated.
