Prime Minister Edi Rama, during his speech at the United Nations University in Tokyo, declared that Albania is closer than ever to the European Union.
“Albania is closer than ever to the EU, and we have never seen this prospect so concrete and real in our modern history. We have entered the decisive phase, and next week we will hold a key intergovernmental conference with the EU, which marks the beginning of a new phase of closing chapters and finalizing negotiations within a year and a half. The road ahead remains extremely challenging, and we have never been more determined.
We are convinced that there is no Plan B when it comes to freedom and the rule of law, and there is no Plan B against justice. This is not simply about joining an organization, but about transforming a society from within, strengthening the rule of law, and fighting crime and corruption. Above all, it is about securing our place in a space where freedom and cooperation are the values and principles of coexistence,” he said, among other remarks.
