Rama: International Architects Help Albania Grow and Inspire Young Professionals

Prime Minister Edi Rama welcomed three guests to the latest episode of the Flasim podcast. They discussed architecture, sports, education, and social initiatives.

First, architect Setion Branko shared his experience working in Florence, New York, and Albania. He explained how his studio connects Albanian and international architects through joint projects.

Meanwhile, Atlanta Nezha presented her summer camp and community center in Vlora. She said the project encourages children to connect with nature. It also offers educational activities throughout the year with support from international volunteers.

In addition, Martial Arts Federation President Arjan Rizaj highlighted the sport’s rapid growth in Albania. He noted that the country successfully hosted the 2023 World Championship and continues to attract more young athletes.

Furthermore, Rama defended the presence of international architects in Albania. He said they do not weaken the country’s identity. Instead, they create an “open university” where young Albanian architects gain valuable knowledge and professional experience.

He also stressed that urban development must balance construction with environmental protection. At the same time, he called for higher standards in planning and design.

Speaking about tourism, Rama said Albania has become a well-known international destination. However, he added that the country must now focus on quality and sustainable tourism rather than simply increasing visitor numbers.

Finally, Rama said Albania is entering a new phase of development. He emphasized that economic growth, tourism, architecture, and education are working together to build a stronger future.
