Prime Minister Edi Rama visited Korçë today to attend a public consultation meeting on the new Administrative-Territorial Reform.
Rama said larger administrative units could improve access to another category of European Union funds. He also said the reform could bring more investment to local communities.
“What we are doing today is very important for your children, first and foremost, and for the proper functioning of the Albanian state at the national level,” Rama said.
According to Rama, merging Maliq with Korçë into a new and stronger municipality would create new opportunities for sustainable economic and social development.
He also said the merger would improve access to European Union funds. The Administrative-Territorial Reform aims to strengthen local capacities and expand financing and investment opportunities for communities.
At the same time, the reform seeks to create conditions for stronger development in the future.
