Prime Minister and Socialist Party leader Edi Rama said the incident in Zvërnec was serious and unacceptable. However, he stressed that the state responded quickly and firmly.
Rama made the comments on Monday during the Socialist Party’s 35th anniversary event in Berat.
He said every country faces difficult situations. However, he added that a state should be judged by the way it reacts.
Meanwhile, Rama listed the measures taken after the incident. Authorities arrested the person involved. They launched criminal proceedings against the private security guards. They also revoked the company’s license.
In addition, the director of Vlorë police was dismissed. The full local police chain is now under investigation over what Rama called indifference during the incident.
He also criticized what he described as political manipulation around the case. At the same time, he said public debate and criticism are part of democracy.
Looking ahead, Rama said Albania has everything it needs to succeed. He added that the country needs determination, patience and strong leadership to move forward.
He stressed that Albania should aim higher in the coming decade and continue its path toward the European Union.
