Shën Prodhomi Monastery in Voskopojë Preserves Rare Cultural Heritage

Blendi Gonxhja shared images of the restored Shën Prodhomi Monastery in Voskopojë.

Authorities restored the monastery through a project designed by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage and the Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage in Korçë, with financing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Experts built the monastery in the 17th century and listed it as a Category I Cultural Monument. It preserves rare frescoes and Byzantine architectural elements.

The site stands at 1,279 meters in northern Voskopojë. It offers a wide panoramic view of the surrounding area.

The complex includes the main church, monastic buildings, and historic structures connected by stone pathways.

Records confirm the earliest inscription from 1632, which establishes the monastery’s long cultural and religious importance.
