Swedish media Dagens highlights Albania as emerging European tourist destination

TIRANA, June 1 – Albania is emerging as a new European tourism destination. Swedish media outlet “Dagens” reports growing interest from European travelers and describes Albania as more affordable than Spain and Greece, while also comparing it with Italy.

Meanwhile, “Dagens” highlights Albania’s beaches, natural landscapes and competitive prices. It says the country attracts tourists seeking clear seas, quality food and authentic experiences. The article places strong emphasis on the Albanian Riviera and notes rising international attention in recent years, along with hidden bays and preserved coastal landscapes along the Ionian Sea.

In particular, Ksamil receives special attention. The media outlet says the clarity of the water and beach scenery often surprise visitors. It adds that many tourists initially believe the images are edited. At the same time, the report underlines Albania’s lower costs compared with other European destinations and notes rising prices across much of the Mediterranean region.

As a result, “Dagens” says the balance between quality and price strengthens Albania’s position in the European tourism market, while tour operators expand travel packages to the country. However, the article also notes challenges, including infrastructure that still requires improvement in some areas and uneven service standards across regions.

Nevertheless, it stresses that Albania’s natural authenticity remains a key advantage. In addition, the outlet recommends Himara and Borshi, highlighting quiet beaches and traditional village environments, and it also mentions Berat, a UNESCO World Heritage city known for its historic architecture and cultural importance.

“Dagens” concludes that Albania continues to gain ground in European tourism, driven by a mix of nature, heritage and competitive prices.
