The WISA project for women in media and digital safety launched at Europe House

Europe House hosted the launch ceremony of “Weaving Digital Safety – Albania’s Women in Media Network Initiative (WISA)” today. The project aims to empower women in media and boost digital security in the sector.

WISA responds to the challenges and needs of women working in media. It builds on their experiences and voices to provide protection, support, and professional solidarity.

The initiative is led by Albanian Women in Audiovisual (AWA), in partnership with SCiDEV and AGSH, with funding from the European Union.

Organizers say the project will run for 30 months. It aims to expand and strengthen the Women in Media Network in Albania. At the end, the network will operate as an independent organization with broad representation and a national voice.

The event highlighted the importance of a safer digital environment for journalists and media professionals. Speakers stressed the need for closer cooperation between civil society, institutions, and international partners.

WISA will strengthen professional capacities, raise online safety awareness, and create support mechanisms for women in media. It opens a new chapter for this community in Albania.
