Transparency Board Announces New Fuel Prices

The Transparency Board convened this Monday, May 19, 2026, and decided on the new maximum fuel prices for the domestic market.

According to the decision, the retail price of diesel must not exceed 205 ALL per liter, which is 3 ALL higher than the Board’s previous decision, while the wholesale price has been set at no more than 193 ALL per liter.

Meanwhile, the retail price of gasoline has been set at no more than 189 ALL per liter, 1 ALL higher than the previous decision, while the wholesale price has been fixed at 177 ALL per liter.

The new prices will enter into force this Tuesday at 5:00 PM and will remain valid until the next meeting of the Transparency Board, where they are expected to be reviewed depending on market fluctuations.

The Board calls on all wholesale and retail fuel operators to strictly implement the decision, warning that violations may lead to measures including the suspension of business activity.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, continue their commitment to protecting consumers and ensuring fair competition in the market.

According to the official clarification, based on Normative Act No. 1 dated April 3, 2026, if the price of diesel exceeds 220 ALL per liter or gasoline exceeds 200 ALL per liter, an 80% excise tax rate is applied. With the current prices set by the Board, these thresholds are not exceeded, therefore the full excise tax rate of 100% continues to apply.
