The Association of Albanian Journalists (UGSH) has reacted following the blocking of access to Euronews Albania’s official Instagram page, expressing concern over the situation and calling for immediate clarification.
In its statement,UGSH emphasized that the inability to access the media outlet’s account on one of the main platforms used to communicate with the public is an issue that requires full transparency.
“UGSHexpresses concern that Euronews Albania’s official Instagram page has become inaccessible, at a time when numerous Albanian accounts have reportedly been shut down on the platform in recent days,” the statement reads.
The Association said it is working to clarify the full circumstances surrounding the situation and to restore access to the page as quickly as possible.
At the same time,UGSH is also calling for transparency regarding other reported cases of Albanian accounts being shut down in recent days.
According to UGSH, there must be guarantees that platforms’ moderation and reporting mechanisms cannot be misused to restrict critical voices, journalists, media outlets or citizens.
“Digital platforms have a responsibility to ensure clear, transparent and fair processes,”UGSH stressed.
The Association underlined that when such decisions affect media outlets and the public’s access to information, the issue is no longer merely a technical one, but is directly linked to media freedom and the right to information.
