Virtual farming assistant launched at digital agriculture conference

TIRANA, June 1 – Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Andis Salla said Albania’s agricultural sector will rely increasingly on technology and real-time data, as officials presented “YLLI”, the first virtual assistant for Albanian farmers, at the “Digital Agriculture for Albania 2030” conference in Tirana.

The new tool forms part of the Farmer’s Portal. It uses artificial intelligence and communicates in Albanian. The platform provides information, guidance and real-time assistance for farmers. According to Salla, digital technologies have become essential for agriculture as farmers face climate change, higher production costs, market competition and European standards.

The minister described the initiative as a practical transformation program rather than a strategic vision alone. He said the government aims to build a more productive, competitive, transparent and European-oriented agricultural sector, with farmers at the center of the process. To support that goal, “YLLI” will provide immediate assistance through mobile phones and deliver answers in real time.

Salla also announced that the portal will publish market and collection-point prices online. In addition, authorities plan to expand digital monitoring through smart sensors that provide data on irrigation, fertilization, weather conditions and crop management. As a result, farmers will gain broader access to information and stronger tools for decision-making.

The minister highlighted the role of young people and innovation in modern agriculture. During the event, farmer Manjola Hafizi demonstrated the platform by requesting information on the 2026 National Support Scheme. The presentation showed how “YLLI” can interact with farmers in Albanian and provide instant responses to agricultural needs.
