EU member states have approved an intergovernmental conference with Albania on October 13 in Luxembourg, paving the way for the provisional closure of Chapter 20 on Enterprise and Industrial Policy. The Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER) approved the meeting after reviewing Albania’s progress on business development and industrial reforms.
Chapter 20 covers business competitiveness, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, investment, innovation, digitalization and the green transition. Albania aims to align its enterprise and industrial policies with EU standards and strengthen its competitiveness in the European market.
The conference could bring the number of provisionally closed negotiating chapters to four in just three months. The move would support business growth, attract investment and bring Albania closer to the EU Single Market.
