US Ambassador Wendt shares his priority of making both our nations stronger and growing investments

TIRANA, November 6 /ATA/ – The new United States Ambassador to our country Eric Wendt stated today that defense, investments and security are the priority of his diplomatic tenure.

In a video message, Ambassador Wendt indicated that strengthening the relationship between the two countries will be the focus of his work.

“In my previous military service together with the Albanian special forces and in my previous travels around Albania, meeting with everyday Albanians, I personally experienced that Albanians are remarkably hospitable people. They are also hard working and proud”, said Wendt.

Further on, he unveiled that, “Over the coming months, the US embassy will conduct an assessment that will help shape our path forward. As part of this assessment, I look forward to travelling to multiple locations in Albania. As a standard diplomatic practice, I will participate in meetings with political leaders that you have elected, as well as government officials, military leaders, business leaders, legal and other leaders”.

Then, the ambassador said that he was also looking forward to meet with everyday Americans and Albanians.

“Together we’ll discuss the old ways and create new ways that we can effectively work together, while focusing on three key areas of mutual benefit. The first is growing stronger as we build real defense capability and carry out our fair share as allies. The second is growing more prosperous. We’ll find ways to grow investments and opportunities with mutual benefit for Americans and Albanians. The third is growing safer. We’ll work together against trans-national crime and to protect our shared interest”, said the ambassador.

Wendt also said that, “As we conduct this assessment over the next few months and develop this prosperous and safer path forward, I also look forward of learning more of the people of Albania, your history and especially experiencing your legendary hospitality. I am truly honored and blessed to serve in Albania as the US ambassador.”

The ambassador concluded his message by saying that, “The USA and Albania share a powerful history, friendship and deep mutual respect. Together we can get real things done. We go together.” /p.s./
