TIRANA, November 8 /ATSH/ – “Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu” National Museum and Kruja Ethnographic Museum are among the most significant destinations for historical and cultural tourism in Albania.
Prime Minister Edi Rama shared images today of these two museums, which attract great interest from both domestic and international tourists visiting Kruja.
“Kruja Museum—one of the most frequented destinations within our historical heritage—welcomes 200,000 visitors a year,” wrote Rama.
“Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu” National Museum is one of the most visited museums in Albania. Located within the ruins of the centuries-old Kruja Castle, the museum opened in 1982. The building is designed to resemble a medieval Albanian fortress, with a primary focus on documenting the life and deeds of Skanderbeg, the nation’s hero.
Kruja Ethnographic Museum comprises 15 rooms, each with its own specific function, layout and socio-ethnographic symbolism. Many visitors—both locals and foreigners—include the Ethnographic Museum as an essential stop on their tour of the historic city of Kruja.
While Kruja is well-known as a destination for one-day historical excursions, the expansion of local accommodation facilities has encouraged tourists to extend their stays in this historic city. The distinctive bazaar of Kruja, with its narrow cobblestone alleys and array of traditional handicrafts, is a particular favorite among visitors. Furthermore, no trip to Kruja is complete without a visit to “Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu” National Museum and Kruja Ethnographic Museum. /k.s/p.s./
