Polling stations opened across Serbia on Sunday for the election of members of national minority councils. The Kosovo government and political representatives of Albanians in Serbia have called on the Albanian community to vote in the elections for the Albanian National Council.
Polling stations will remain open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. A total of 481,789 registered voters are eligible to cast their ballots, according to the special electoral registers.

Members of the councils representing 21 national minorities will be elected through direct voting, including the Albanian, Bosniak, Bulgarian, Bunjevci, Vlach, Hungarian, Roma, Romanian, Ruthenian, Slovak, Croatian and Montenegrin communities.
Members of the councils representing the Gorani and Russian minorities will be elected through assemblies of delegates, which will take place at the Serbian Parliament building.
Six national minorities have only one electoral list, while the others have at least two.
A total of 37,759 voters are eligible to participate in the election of the Albanian National Council.
National minority councils in Serbia represent minority communities in matters related to culture, education, information and the official use of languages and scripts.
Serbia’s Republic Electoral Commission will publish the election results no later than 96 hours after polling stations close.
