Albania participates in insurance supervision meeting in Warsaw

TIRANA, May 18 – Albania took part in the 25th meeting of the Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe Insurance Supervision Initiative in Warsaw, Poland. The meeting brought together supervisory authorities from across the region.

The delegation of the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority included Merita Gurabardhi, Aranit Muja and Lusjana Lloji. They joined discussions on key issues in insurance and pension market supervision.

The meeting covered several topics. These included risks from natural disasters and climate change, the insurance protection gap and supplementary pension systems. It also addressed recovery measures, emergency intervention in the insurance sector and reinsurance practices.

According to the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority, participation in the forum supports Albania’s EU integration process. It also contributes to alignment of insurance, pension supervision and consumer protection with European Union standards and best practices.

Meanwhile, regional exchange of experience is considered an important contribution to strengthening the supervisory framework of the non-bank financial market. It also supports increased market resilience in Albania.
