Durana Tech Park Joins Regional Eco-Industrial Initiative

Durana Tech Park has joined the network of pilot sites under the Eco-Industrial Parks Initiative in the Western Balkans.

The park, owned by the Albanian Investment Corporation, stands near Tirana and focuses on technology, innovation, and advanced industries.

As a result, the project will help Albania attract international investors and future-oriented industries. It will also strengthen the country’s competitiveness in European markets.

The International Finance Corporation leads the initiative in partnership with the European Union through the Western Balkans Investment Framework.

The program supports industrial zones and technology parks. In addition, it encourages companies to share infrastructure and services, reduce costs, and lower environmental impact.

Florensa Haxhi Kovaçi said the project marks an important step toward building a modern ecosystem for innovation and investment.

She added that the park will integrate sustainability, efficient resource management, and international standards into its development plans.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister Enkelejd Musabelliu said the park can support a new phase of industrial and technological growth in Albania.

According to him, the project will attract investment, support business growth, and strengthen Albania’s position in future industries.

At the same time, Ritva Heikkinen stressed that Albania must align with European Union standards on the environment and competitiveness.

She noted that eco-industrial parks promote circular economy principles and sustainable industrial planning.

In addition, Massimiliano Paolucci said the initiative will improve infrastructure, attract private investment, and create better jobs.

This week, IFC experts are holding technical seminars and planning sessions with representatives of Durana Tech Park and Albanian institutions.

Overall, the initiative supports the goals of the European Green Deal and the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans. It also promotes sustainable industrial development and economic growth.
