The 8th Albania–European Union Intergovernmental Conference will take place this Tuesday in Brussels, officially paving the way for Albania to enter the phase of closing negotiations for EU membership.
New details regarding the conference have been disclosed. It has been learned that at 18:50, Prime Minister Edi Rama and the delegation composed of government cabinet ministers will arrive at the European Council.
A family photo will then be taken, while the intergovernmental conference is scheduled to begin at 19:00. After the meeting, a press conference is also expected to be held at around 20:15.

The intergovernmental conference comes after the decision approved by the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Member States of the European Union (COREPER), which confirms the fulfillment of the Interim Benchmarks in the “Fundamentals” cluster, and also sets the conditions for closing negotiations on Chapter 23, “Judiciary and Fundamental Rights,” and Chapter 24, “Justice, Freedom and Security.”
