After nearly six decades of interruption, the village of Kabash in Pukë witnessed the return of Eid al-Adha prayers at the ruins of the area’s old mosque, in a symbolic ceremony that gathered residents, worshippers, and emigrants who had returned to their hometown for the holiday.

The religious ceremony was led by the Mufti of Pukë, Gëzim Kopani, who delivered messages of peace, unity, and harmony among religious communities.

The prayer ceremony was held for the first time since 1967, when religious buildings were destroyed during the communist regime. Residents considered the return of the ceremony to the mosque ruins a moment of historical and spiritual significance for the area.

The event was attended not only by Muslim worshippers, but also by Catholic residents, preserving the tradition of coexistence and interfaith respect that has characterized the Kabash community for years.

Following the religious ceremony, the celebration continued with traditional rites and gatherings among families returning from the diaspora, bringing a festive atmosphere and renewed vibrancy to the village after decades.

The revival of Eid al-Adha prayers in Kabash was seen as a symbol of historical memory, solidarity, and the strong connection of residents to the area’s religious and cultural traditions.
