Albania launches state digital company Albanian Digital Solution to expand e-government services and exports

TIRANA, May 29 – The government presented “Albanian Digital Solution Sh.A.” on Thursday. The new company aims to modernise public services and strengthen technological innovation in Albania. It marks a new phase in the development of e-government.

Prime Minister Edi Rama said the initiative represents a major step in digital transformation. He said the state advances from a limited set of services to more than 1,000 online public services through the e-government system.

Meanwhile, Rama said the new company will develop and maintain digital systems. He said the state will reduce dependence on private operators in this field. He added that the goal is to build a specialised public structure for digital services.

In addition, he said the company will aim to operate successfully in the market. He said it will attract technology talent and offer competitive salaries. He also said it will bring in professionals from abroad.

Rama said the company will develop technological solutions that can become prototypes. He said these solutions can later enter international markets.

The Prime Minister added also that the initiative will reduce maintenance costs of government digital systems within three years. The savings will create space for new investments.

Earlier, Rama said the new structure will also engage with the private sector. He said the private sector currently operates differently from the public digital system, which he said performs strongly in international rankings.
