Blendi Gonxhja: FIP Platinum Albania Puts Albania on Global Padel Map

Blendi Gonxhja described the FIP Platinum Albania tournament as a major sporting and organizational success, saying it placed Albania on the map of top international padel events.

He made the remarks after the tournament concluded in Tirana, where the finals took place at Skanderbeg Square. First, Gonxhja highlighted the strong public turnout and the high level of competition throughout the week-long event.

He said the tournament ran from May 26 and ended with the final matches in Skanderbeg Square, creating a memorable sporting atmosphere. Moreover, he noted that around 20,000 spectators attended the matches over five days.

He also said 150 athletes from different countries participated, including some of the top-ranked international players. In the men’s competition, Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas won the title after defeating David Gala and Enzo Jensen in the final.

In the women’s final, Marina Guinart and Veronica Virseda claimed victory over Ale Salazar and Ale Alonso. Furthermore, Gonxhja said the event proved Albania’s capacity to host top-level international sports competitions.

He emphasized that Tirana turned into a stage for elite sport, showing strong organizational capacity, energy and vision. In addition, he said the tournament also boosted Albania’s image as a tourism and sports destination.

Finally, he thanked the International Padel Federation, the Albanian Padel Federation and all partners who supported the event, calling it a milestone for Albanian sport.
