Government Approves 870 Million ALL Compensation for Property Owners Affected by Legalized Buildings

The Council of Ministers has approved a financial compensation fund for owners of immovable property affected by legalized constructions across several regions of Albania.

First, the decision was taken under the law on the completion of transitional property processes. It was proposed by the Prime Minister. The total compensation amount reaches 870,762,086.47 ALL. It covers 85,140.35 square meters of land affected by legalized buildings.

Then, the beneficiaries include property owners across multiple regions. These include Tirana, Durrës, Kavajë, Krujë, Elbasan, Fier, Lezhë, Vlorë, Shkodër, Pogradec, Sarandë, Gjirokastër, Kukës, and Lushnjë, as well as rural and special zones of Tirana.

Furthermore, the compensation will be managed by the Property Treatment Agency. It will follow legal procedures for property restitution and compensation.

In addition, the decision states that revenue from the sale of construction plots will help finance the compensation process. Moreover, local cadastral offices will update property registers. They will reflect the legal changes and final decisions.

Finally, the measure aims to close ongoing property legalization cases while ensuring financial compensation for affected owners.
