Weapons and Technology Reserve Established for the Armed Forces

The Council of Ministers has approved a new decision to create a reserve of weapons and technological equipment for the Armed Forces. First, the reserve will be supplied by licensed companies operating in the production and trade of arms and military technology.

Then, the proposal was submitted by the Minister of Defence and is based on the law regulating the production, trade, research, and development of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment.

The main goal is to ensure readiness of the Armed Forces. This applies in case of war. It also applies in situations of imminent or direct risk of military aggression against the country or its strategic allies.

Furthermore, the decision sets clear obligations for licensed entities. All companies operating in this sector must maintain the required reserve. They must comply with national legislation.

In addition, the act defines what a “licensed entity” is. It includes any legal person, public or private, authorized to operate in this field.

It also defines the “reserve of weapons and technological equipment.” This refers to the stock of arms and equipment that companies must keep available for the Armed Forces.

Moreover, the decision introduces a procedure for activating the reserve. The Minister of Defence issues an order when required by the security situation.

Finally, the act specifies the composition of the reserve. It defines the quantity and types of weapons and equipment that must be maintained by licensed operators.
