Revenues from managing and renting confiscated property reached ALL 180 million in the first eight months of 2026, according to Risena Xhaja, head of Albania’s Agency for the Administration of Confiscated Assets.
Xhaja presented the figures during a hearing with the Committee on Citizen Initiatives, Cooperation and Institutional Oversight. She said the agency has improved transparency, asset management and cooperation with national and international institutions in recent years.
Meanwhile, the agency has published online catalogues of seized and confiscated assets. Citizens, businesses, institutions and organisations can access the information and apply to use or rent the assets.
Rental revenues have increased from ALL 79 million in 2023 to ALL 160 million in 2024 and ALL 221 million in 2025. The agency recorded ALL 180 million by August 2026 and expects further growth by year-end. Rental contracts also increased from 198 in 2023 to 284 in 2024 and 344 in 2025. The agency has signed 290 contracts so far this year and expects to renew 118 more by year-end.
Xhaja said the revenues go into a special fund that supports law-enforcement institutions and organisations. She added that the agency aims to place 50% of confiscated assets into social use as part of Albania’s European Union integration process. In 2026, the agency has allocated ALL 21.5 million and €1.4 million to institutions and made 15 immovable and around 50 movable assets available to them.
