AI to enter Albania’s public procurement system this autumn

Economy and Innovation Minister Delina Ibrahimaj said Albania expects to start using artificial intelligence in public procurement this autumn. She said the system will increase transparency in the process.

Ibrahimaj said the Council of Ministers discussed the need for a more centralised and transparent public procurement system. The government is finalising the details of the new artificial intelligence system before introducing it into procurement procedures.

Meanwhile, Ibrahimaj said Pasqyra Albania will provide detailed information on public procurement. Citizens will be able to track procurement procedures and their outcomes. They will also be able to follow how procurement contracts are implemented.

The model will give greater responsibility to the Centralised Purchasing Operator. It will also connect the systems of the Ministry of Finance, the Public Procurement Agency and the Centralised Purchasing Operator with contract implementation. Ibrahimaj said public funds will remain traceable, controllable and transparent to all interested parties.
