Construction activity in Albania increased in the first quarter of 2026. A total of 322 building permits were approved. This marks a 24.8% rise compared to the same period in 2025.
INSTAT reported that planned construction area also increased. It reached 377,000 square meters, up 12.5% year on year. The total value of approved projects reached 20.4 billion lekë.
This represents a 1.6% increase compared to last year. Housing construction remained the dominant sector. Authorities approved 237 residential building permits.
Non-residential projects also increased. These include hotels, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities. Industrial projects made up the largest share within this category.
Infrastructure investment focused mainly on transport projects, including roads and highways.
Finally, INSTAT said it is working to improve data reporting by integrating all responsible institutions into a unified system.
