DP holds nationwide rally in support of student protests

TIRANA, Nov 7 /ATA/ The Democratic Party (DP) staged another nationwide protest on Saturday in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, expressing support for students and young people who have taken to the streets for several days to protest against the government.

DP leader Sali Berisha called on citizens to join the demonstration, portraying the student movement as a cause that goes beyond political differences.

Some of the protesters initially gathered outside the Democratic Party’s headquarters before marching towards the Prime Minister’s Office alongside senior DP officials.

To maintain public order and safety, the police have drawn up a security plan, while media reports from the scene indicate that 1,200 police officers have been deployed.

The security plan includes Public Order Forces and the Rapid Intervention Forces, which will be deployed near public institutions, as well as water-cannon vehicles.

Meanwhile, students have also announced a protest for today at 14:00 in front of the Ministry of Education.
