Eid al-Adha, Muslim Community Head Spahiu: A Day of Solidarity and Helping One Another

Muslims across Albania today celebrate Eid al-Adha, one of Islam’s most important holidays. The holiday symbolizes sacrifice, devotion, and solidarity.

Early in the morning, believers gathered in mosques across the country to perform Eid prayers. In Tirana, hundreds of worshippers prayed on “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard.

After the prayer, the head of the Albanian Muslim Community, Bujar Spahiu, greeted believers and shared messages of peace, unity, and compassion for people in need.

“Happy Eid al-Adha to all of you. This holiday represents solidarity and mutual support. Our Islamic faith teaches us to help those in need, reject negativity, and embrace kindness and goodness. We should love one another for the sake of God and contribute positively to our society, our country, and our youth,” Spahiu said.

Furthermore, Spahiu stressed that Eid al-Adha encourages reflection and brings people closer together. He urged people to reject selfishness and injustice.

“Eid al-Adha teaches us to move away from selfishness, hatred, injustice, and indifference. Instead, we should treat one another with respect and dignity,” he added.

In addition, Spahiu highlighted the importance of supporting families in need, elderly people, and those facing hardship.

“Today, while our families gather around the Eid table, we must not forget those who lack a full meal. We also should remember elderly people who wait for a phone call, a knock on the door, or a warm embrace. The true value of this holiday does not depend on what we place on the table, but on what we carry in our hearts,” Spahiu said.

Finally, he prayed for peace and goodness around the world and sent special greetings to Albanian pilgrims in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.

“We pray to Allah to accept our worship, prayers, and sacrifices. We also pray for peace in our hearts, our families, and the entire world. In particular, we send our greetings to Albanian pilgrims in Mecca and Medina. May Allah accept their Hajj and all their acts of worship,” Spahiu concluded.
