Ermal Nufi Meets NATO Deputy Secretary General, Reaffirms Albania’s Role in Regional Stability

Ermal Nufi met on Friday with Radmila Šekerinska. They discussed security in the Western Balkans. They also reviewed Albania’s role in NATO and preparations for upcoming alliance summits.

During the meeting, Nufi reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to remain a constructive force in Southeast Europe. He said Albania will continue to support peace, stability and regional cooperation.

In addition, both officials highlighted Albania’s strong commitment to NATO and Euro-Atlantic values. Nufi also stressed the importance of increasing defense investment.

He said a larger defense budget will help Albania meet alliance obligations more effectively. The talks also focused on military modernization and the development of Albania’s domestic defense industry.

Nufi said international partners have shown growing interest in this sector. Meanwhile, the two officials discussed preparations for the NATO summit in Ankara in July.

They also highlighted work for NATO’s summit in Tirana in 2027. Finally, Nufi said Albania remains committed to strengthening cyber defense with NATO and allied partners.
