EU Ambassador presents 2026 Progress Report to National Council for European Integration

TIRANA, Nov 5 /ATA/  – European Union Ambassador to Albania Sofia Moreira de Sousa on Thursday presented the 2026 Progress Report on Albania to the National Council for European Integration and its two co-chairs, Taulant Balla and Jorida Tabaku.

In a statement, the ambassador stressed the importance of political dialogue and public consultation in the country’s EU integration process.

“The Council brings together the ruling majority, the opposition and civil society around the same table. Albania’s path towards EU membership needs precisely that: meaningful political dialogue and genuine public consultation,” Moreira de Sousa said.

She warned that political confrontation slowed reforms and delayed the benefits EU membership would bring to Albanian citizens.

“This is a national project that can move forward only if we build it together,” the ambassador said.
