TIRANA, June 11 – The High Judicial Council met representatives of the European Commission in Tirana during an official visit to Albania. High Judicial Council Chairman Ilir Rusi took part in the meeting together with council members Klodian Kurushi and Irena Plaku.
Valentina Superti led the European Commission delegation. She serves as Director for the Western Balkans at the Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood. Isabella Torta joined as Team Leader for Rule of Law. Charlotte Garyga also participated as a policy officer. Representatives of the European Union Delegation in Tirana joined the meeting.
Participants focused on progress in justice reform and development of judicial standards. They reviewed measures that improve the efficiency of the judicial system and strengthen justice institutions.
The sides also examined the reduction of the court case backlog. They discussed steps to fill vacancies across the judiciary. They also reviewed development of the Case Management System, which supports efficiency and improves judicial administration.
Both sides assessed ongoing cooperation and confirmed commitment to continued dialogue. They supported reform processes aligned with European standards and Albania’s European Union integration path.
The High Judicial Council reaffirmed its commitment to advance reforms. It emphasized the goal of building an independent and efficient judiciary that serves citizens.
