TIRANA, June 12 – The Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Evis Sala, initiated school-based sessions of the National Council for Child Rights and Protection. The initiative brings students from primary and secondary education directly into policy discussions across several cities.
The first out-of-institution meeting took place at the “Petro Nini Luarasi” high school in Tirana. Sala met students, teachers, and council members. She discussed priorities under the Children’s Rights Agenda 2027–2030 and underlined the importance of listening to children and young people in policy design.
Meanwhile, Sala said children hold full rights and participate in civic life. She added that institutions must place the best interest of the child at the centre of all decisions. In addition, the agenda sets three main priorities. It strengthens child protection systems. It eliminates violence and exploitation. It promotes equal opportunities for all children without exclusion.
At the same time, the framework addresses digital safety, social inclusion, and support for vulnerable children. It applies a rights-based and evidence-based approach to policy development. Later, Sala stressed stronger family support as a key pillar. She pointed to expanded community services and alternative care solutions. She also referred to measures for families in need.
Students and council members presented proposals during the discussion. They raised diaspora participation and regular reporting on implementation of the national agenda.
