TIRANA, May 19 – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Ervin Ibrahimovic visited Tirana on an official trip. He said Albania and Montenegro share friendship and a common European vision.
Meanwhile, during a joint press conference with Albanian Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha, Ibrahimovic said relations between the two countries rely on shared responsibility for stability, security and peace in the region. He also said both countries align fully with European Union foreign and security policy objectives as candidate states.
In addition, Ibrahimovic said Montenegro supports the integration of the entire Western Balkans region. He said this process strengthens stability and future development. He also referred to Montenegro’s European Union accession process and said the country aims to close remaining negotiation chapters and achieve membership by 2028.
The minister also discussed economic cooperation with Albania. He said both sides want stronger infrastructure links and higher presence of Montenegrin companies in Albania. He added that cooperation also includes investment opportunities, trade and cybersecurity.
Finally, he said minorities in both countries act as bridges between societies. The next European Union–Western Balkans summit will take place in Montenegro in June.
