National Olympiads begin on November 2, adding foreign languages

The first phase of Albania’s national Olympiads will begin on November 2, with students from schools across the country taking part.

Education Minister Mirela Kumbaro said foreign languages will join the Olympiads for the first time. The new subjects are English, Italian, French and German for upper secondary school students.

Kumbaro said the initiative aims to encourage schools to engage students in more fields of knowledge. It will also give students more opportunities to demonstrate their skills and talents in exact sciences, social sciences and foreign languages.

In a social media post, the minister outlined the Olympiads by subject and announced their scheduled dates. The national Olympiads and competitions aim to promote student participation across different fields and help identify and develop young talent.
