A high-level NATO delegation visited the Port of Durres on Wednesday to assess its port capacities and strategic role in regional security and logistics.
The delegation was led by the Commander of NATO’s Joint Force Command in Naples. Representatives of the Albanian Armed Forces and Naval Force Commander Rear Admiral Arsen Mullaj also joined the visit.
During the visit, Deputy Director General of the Durres Port Authority Andrea Shllaku and Port Security Officer Dritan Prifti welcomed the delegation.
The NATO representatives toured the port’s processing facilities, services, and infrastructure. They also examined the role of the NATO Naval Base in Porto Romano.
Meanwhile, the delegation focused on the strategic importance of both the Port of Durres and the Porto Romano naval base in supporting Corridor VIII, military mobility, and cooperation with Euro-Atlantic structures.
Furthermore, the visit highlighted Durres as a key transport and logistics hub in the region. The port also plays an important role in strengthening regional security and cooperation with NATO.
As a result, the visit underscored the growing strategic importance of Albania’s Adriatic infrastructure for regional connectivity, logistics, and Euro-Atlantic security.
