PM Rama announces record €10 billion state budget for 2027

Prime Minister Edi Rama said the state budget has exceeded €10 billion for the first time in Albania’s history. He made the announcement in a message on economic performance and addressed students as well.

The government has submitted the 2027 draft budget to the Assembly for discussion and approval. Rama said the economy remains among the most dynamic in the region, with sustained growth and rising real incomes across all population groups.

He also cited gross domestic product reaching €30 billion, compared with €10 billion a decade ago. The 2027 budget and the 2027–2029 medium-term programme include ambitious economic, fiscal and social measures, he said.

Rama stressed that the government wants to attract more businesses, companies and domestic and foreign investment. He defended fair taxation, arguing that those who earn more should pay more, while the government works to narrow social gaps created by rapid economic transformation.

The prime minister also pledged to increase the redistribution of economic growth through wages, investment and social spending. He said pension increases would double each year until the end of his fourth term. Pensioners would see this commitment reflected in their first pension payment of the coming year, he added.

Further, Rama acknowledged growing pressure on household budgets from rising fuel and food prices and the cost of living for younger people.
