PM Rama: Milot–Balldren road to boost tourism and economy in northern Albania

TIRANA, June 10 – Prime Minister Edi Rama said the start of works on the Milot–Balldren road segment marks an important step for Shkodër, Lezha, and northern Albania. He made the remarks in a post on social media.

Rama said the project will improve mobility and road safety. He added that it will also give a new boost to tourism, business, and the wider economy in Shkodër, Lezha, and the entire northern region.

Construction company “Salillari” won the tender for the Milot–Balldren road project. The segment forms part of the Adriatic–Ionian Corridor and ranks among the key infrastructure projects in northern Albania.

Authorities describe the Milot–Balldren axis as a strategic part of the national road network. It links with other government investments aimed at improving infrastructure and supporting regional economic development.

The planned route measures 17 kilometers. It starts at the Milot junction. It connects with the Milot–Thumana–Kashar–Lekaj segment and the Nation’s Road. It ends at the existing Tirana–Shkodër road in Balldren.
