Prime Minister Edi Rama visited Brussels on Monday, where he took part in the Euronews Enlargement Summit. The high-level forum focused on EU enlargement and the European future of countries seeking membership.
Discussions covered the progress of candidate countries, ongoing reforms and their commitments to the European Union. Participants also examined how enlargement could reshape Europe’s security, democracy, economic competitiveness and strategic autonomy.
During the summit, Rama gave an interview to Euronews about Albania’s EU accession process and the challenges ahead.
He highlighted the country’s progress towards membership. Meanwhile, Albania continues technical work and meetings to advance negotiations and provisionally close the next groups of chapters.
During his visit, Rama also met NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at NATO headquarters in Brussels.
Rutte praised Albania’s progress in the defence sector and its serious approach to meeting NATO obligations. The meeting also highlighted Albania’s commitment to its responsibilities as an Alliance member.
The visit brought together two key priorities of Albania’s foreign policy: advancing EU membership negotiations and strengthening its role within NATO.
